The letters written by the Lubavitcher Rebbe are a unique source of inspiration and guidance to Jews in every corner of the globe. The Rebbe`s prolific correspondence spans every aspect of community and family life. Education, keeping kosher, personal advice, medicine, science, communal leadership and nearly all matters pertaining to life, are covered in this series. Twenty-six volumes of letters of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Included are letters previously published on various occasions and letters appearing in print for the first time, arranged in chronological order. Approximately ten thousand letters have so far appeared, dating from before the Rebbe accepted the leadership of Chabad-Lubavitch, from 5680 to 5730 (1919-1970). Included are only those letters whose content has relevance beyond the immediate recipients. The letters include legal, midrashic and mystical responsa, encouragement of Torah study and upright conduct, communal issues, and wise and caring advice on daily life and religious and interpersonal dilemmas. Excluded are purely personal blessings and advice, which make up the majority of letters written by the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Detailed indexes by subject, proper names, and place names aid research, concentrated study or just plain browsing.
