Derech Hachayim/Netiv HaChayim Three scholarly works on prayer in one freshly reformatted volume both by Rabbi Abraham David ben Judah Leib Lavut (1818-1890), a Rabbi of Nikolayev. Shaar HaKollel explains the reasons behind the Alter Rebbes alterations to the siddur, as well as sources and customs for each segment of prayer. The frequently referenced Derech HaChayim, by Rabbi Yaakov of Lisa, is correlated and contrasted with the decisions of the Alter Rebbes Shulchan Aruch in Rabbi Lavuts Netiv HaChayim. Brief notes by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson appear throughout the text.
