The Moshav Band's fifth album, "Malachim," is a return to roots for one of the darlings of the Jewish music universe. The band, whose members grew up together in Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach's Moshav Meor Modi'in, has assumed different identities in the past years, and seems equally as comfortable playing in its fiery Middle Eastern rock/folk/reggae style to yeshiva students on Chol Hamoed as to college students in local clubs. Malachim is the band's first album with only Hebrew, religious material- mostly new renditions of various tehillim, prayers, and mishnayot- with great results. The band stays true to its Carlebach roots while showing true innovation with the tried-and-true classics.
